Meat Consumption Damages the Environment

Alan Thein Durning

In the following viewpoint, Alan Thein Durning argues that the production of red meat and poultry in America is contributing to numerous ecological problems. Durning warns that these problems, including intensive use of crops, energy, and water, as well as soil erosion and air and water pollution, could spread to other countries that duplicate America’s method of meat production.
