Surgeon and anatomist who became prominent in the United States for his work with human anatomy. He received his degree in medicine from the University of Virginia in 1882, and did postgraduate work in medicine in New York. In 1902 he became the chief surgeon of the Southern Pacific Railroad. He presided over the Texas State Medical Association as its president.
