Granville Stanley Hall

1844-1924

American psychologist who was a pioneer in the development of psychology in the United States and a founder of child and educational psychology.

Hall incorporated the ideas of Charles Darwin, Sigmund Freud, Wilhelm Wundt, and Hermann von Helmholtz into American psychology. He helped establish a scientific base for experimental psychology. Hall founded one of the first psychological laboratories in the United States, the first American journal devoted to research in psychology, and the first journal for child and educational psychology.
