George Salmon

1819-1904

Irish mathematician who is best known for his series of textbooks written between 1848 and 1862. Salmon also worked with Arthur Cayley on the properties of cubic surfaces, and made other discoveries involving surfaces, including ruled surfaces (surfaces covered with a regular gridwork of lines).
