Georg Ohm Summary

Georg Simon Ohm

1787-1854

German physicist who quantified the current flow and the potential difference (or voltage) in an electric conductor and found these to be directly proportional to each other.

Most conductors obey this empirical law that is named after him. Ohm identified the constant of proportionality in this law as a property of the conductor alone, known as the electric resistance, whose units are measured in Ohms.
