Jewish medical scholar and physician who wrote a mystical treatise on healing entitled Sefer yetzira, (The book of creation). Dunash lived in the city of Kairouan in Tunisia, a center of learning for the area that was particularly noted for its Jewish scholars, including Rabbi Jacob and Rabbi Nissim. Writings by Dunash include one of the first comparative studies of the Hebrew and Arabic languages.
