Chinese-American computer engineer who invented the magnetic pulse controlling device, forming the basis for magnetic core memory.

This device helped to make possible the first computers with a large (by earlier standards) memory, making them more flexible and versatile. Wang developed many other office automation and information processing devices, and eventually founded Wang Industries to manufacture and market these and other inventions.
