Alfred Krupp

1812-1887

German industrialist and armaments magnate, known as the Cannon King, who was an important contributor to the growth of the German military-industrial complex, as well as the development of modern warfare.

Introduced in 1847, Krupp's cast-steel cannons and other armaments were sold to over 45 war ministries worldwide. Under his leadership, the family business also expanded and found prosperity in manufacturing railway tires, springs, and axles of highgrade steel.
