Vast quantities of dust in the atmosphere affect the earth's climate in that dust in the atmosphere creates an additional layer that the Sun's rays have to attempt to travel through in order to warm the earth. It would be like adding another layer or barrier. Additionally, rainfall would begin to be toxic because it would have the elements of the dust in it. This is exampled when volcanoes erupt and shoot plumes of dust and smoke into the air.
