Gene manipulation is when links in a DNA chain are exploited, removed, changed, or grafted to form a new component or product. The merits of this process could include cures and improved resistance to diseases. The downside to gene manipulation is that it can have long ranging effects that cannot all be accounted for (as in the example of mono crops and the plight of the honey bee colonies).
