what reason does the author give for the Jews rejection of jesus as messiah

Yancey notes that the Jews did not believe that Jesus was the Messiah because he didn't seek to become a king.... he has no desire for power. In addition.... rather than freeing the Jews, he preached about the ways in which they were already blessed.
