what is the guiding idea behind Flatland's great revolution?

When I read the book, I saw two main ideas.

1) The hierarchy between the different shapes suggests a battle between the classes, and when A Square stands up to the circles, it shows how society is blind by class to accept new ideas.

2) The appearance of the sphere suggests the possibility that more dimensions exist. They should not be ruled out of "reality".
