Who is Beowulf?

Beowulf is the hero and main character in the epic Beowulf. He is a great warrior from Geatland and later its King. As a young man, he travels to Denmark where he assists Hrothgar in ridding his kingdom of Grendel and his violent acts. He is a warrior on a quest, the epitome of a Germanic hero, and an effective and beloved king.
