There were four distinct regional economies:

Southern Regions

South Carolina & Georgia: Rice

Chesapeake: Tobacco

New England Econony

Northern Region: Ship building

New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania: staple-crop farming, trade, wood, flaxseed, wheat (main source of trade)
