Pizarro went to Peru to claim lands for Spain. In order to do this, he invaded the city of Cajamarca, taking their leader hostage. Atahuapla, the hostage and Incan leader, was held long after his people paid ransom to have him released. Pizarro had Atahuapla killed in 1533. Aftr taking Cajamarca, Pizarro and his men went onto conquer Cuzco.
