Reasons why the non sugar agricultural industries grew in the british colonies

British colonies in which areas? The Americas? If so, tobacco and cotton became huge agricultural industried for the British, who'd otherwise been unable to produce these valuable crops. Note, Britain colonized many areas around the globe.
