SIXTH AMENDMENT - What does having a public trial entail?

A "public" trial keeps the government from conducting secret trials away from the eyes of the public. This happened under the rule of the British and the Founding Fathers, who wanted to insure it wouldn't happen under the new government. Public trials help to insure that government officials are following the law.
