Who is Jay Shurley from Genie: A Scientific Tragedy and what is their importance?

Jay Shurley was a social isolation expert. He had worked with scientists in the Antarctica, aiding in the development of the first deprivation chambers used in therapy. When Genie first arrived at the hospital, Shurley flew in and administered tests while she was sleeping. During a subsequent consultation, Shurley provided assistance in designing to future of research in Genie's case. He suggested that Genie be placed back in a situation similar to her previous captivity and released slowly. His idea was rejected. Shurley later insisted that her case was dealt with improperly, and that he would like to one day write guidelines on how to deal cases in the fuuture.
