Do you think it's possible that stories like this kind can prompt copycat crimes? If so does the author have any responsibility in each case? For example, Jack the Ripper whose crimes horrified London.

Many serial murderer's have provoked copycat crimes. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, however, is a story about the conflict between good and evil..... Jekyll's actions and experiments are fictional. Are there people who've enacted horrific crimes while under the influence of drugs? Definitely. Are there people whose use of drugs brings out an entirely different aspect of their personality? Certainly. Is this a story that would create copycat crimes? In my opinion..... no.
