Why is Faith's name significant in Young Goodman Brown?

Faith represents lost faith in God. When Brown meets the Devil he tells him that "Faith kept me back a while." She represents the force of good in the world. When Brown perceives that she too has been corrupted, he shouts "My Faith is gone"' and Brown surrenders himself to temptation.
