Who is Mrs. Crich from Women in Love and what is their importance?

Mrs. Crich is the Crich family matriarch. Over the course of the story, we find that Mrs. Crich seems strangely out of touch with her family. Her sense of propriety and aristocracy directly opposes her husband's democratic sense of obligation to his workers. The couple spends their entire marriage fighting, never finding any kind of peace or commonality. Unfortunately, their constant opposition stops her from living a life of her own.
