Who is Brak from Women Who Run with the Wolves and what is their importance?

Brak is "the ice man." There is a story late in the book in which he commits a murder out of anger, which stems from unrequited love. In the story, he is, in fact, made of ice and so is the icicle with which he kills. Within 24 hours, there is nothing left of either the weapon or him. Both have been melted to water.
