According to Mack, Mark presented a biography of Jesus in which he borrowed from the Sayings Gospel Q and then arranged them into stories from Jesus' life. Mack believes that Mark may possibly have undergone a traumatic split from a Jewish synagogue and responded with a story that emphasized the role of the Jews in the destruction of Jesus.
