In Chapter 17, Grandpa and Billy are both determined to win the hunt. Like Billy, Grandpa is ready to face the storm in order to locate the dogs. Grandpa even encourges the others to keep going after he is injured. Billy and his grandfather share the traits of determination and faith. They believe in Old Dan and Little Ann.
