When Nat serves a three-year sentence at a juvenile detention center for armed robbery, Nathan visits on every visiting day, though it’s several hours drive from his house. He allows Nat to come home when his incarceration ends, and he supports Nat’s dreams of becoming a professional boxer, despite his devotion creating a rift in his marriage which ultimately ends with his wife leaving him.
