Who is Lieutenant Steve Jamnik from Walden Two and what is their importance?

Lt. Steve Jamnik is a lower-class American who served in the Pacific during World War II. After returning from the war, Steve believes he won't be able to get a good job. Thus, he and his girlfriend Mary enthusiasticly plan to move to Walden Two, where marry right away, and start a new life together.
