what is Connor's proof that you shouldn't look so closely at stories very sympathetic to those that are being unwound?

As Connor flexes his new hand it appears that Roland did indeed survive the unwinding. The very process that Connor had been fighting against has benefited him. Surely he has to struggle with that result.
