Why was the title of Uncle Tom's Cabin chosen?

There are possibly several reasons. First, a good deal of the action revolves around a slave by the name of Tom and his cabin. Secondly, the designation of the term 'uncle' is a term of honor among the slave community, therefore the fact that this character has that title lends quite a bit to the intent of the author.
