In the three sections of the poem, the diction changes. The diction changes depending on what the speaker's goal is. When he's trying to plead with his lover, he sounds one way, when he tries to flatter her, then the diction is another way. A good example of this is in lines 5-7 where he is trying to impress her by using exotic places and jewels.
