John Stuart Mill wrote the Principles of Political Economy, which broke with the traditional thinkers of the time in emphasizing production as the most important point of economics. Production was determined more or less by nature and not by society's rules, as distribution was. Mill is best known for his political essay, On Liberty. He also authored several other works during his life. Mill died in 1873.
