The main conflict in the story can be found in the politics so clearly presented.... Heine never truly sees the extent of Nazi ideology in Austria, thus, he never sees it as a threat to his life or the lives of his people. The story vivdly portrays the signals many missed.... the things that people, especially the Jews, saw as impossible.
