Describe symbolism in The Weight of Glory and Other Addresses by C. S. Lewis

Lewis notes that theology uses symbolism to explain ideas that do not exist in man's current world. Early Christianity, however, appears more mythical than that of current time. Lewis offers that this is due not to falsehoods, but unrealized potential. His example is that of men with a nut he has not yet cracked.
