Who is the antagonist in The Universe in a Single Atom: The Convergence of Science and Spirituality by Dalai Lama?

I don't think there is a single antagonist here. Often we are our own worst antagonists. The endless cycle of desire, greed, and ignorance cause much of the problems of the world.
