The Stranger

One of the key dilemmas in 20th century Western history was the "problem onf meaning". How did Camus wrestle this problem in "The Stranger"?

The stranger is an existentialist examination into meaning and absurdity. Camus asks where meaning is derived from. Is meaning what society deems meaningful? Is meaning only to be seen through the individual? Is there a common meaning for everyone? Meursault preferred that there is no meaning at all and any efforts to instill meaning is absurd.
