The Compson children do not like Jason because he spies on them for their mother. They see him as a spy who will tell on them for anything that they do wrong. This affects his temperament because he feels like an outsider and unloved by his family. His relationship with his mother makes him cynical and selfish because she cares only for her own well-being and makes him just like her. Jason thinks only of himself and what he can get out of a situation not how others will be affected. This makes him unliked.
