In the section titled, Saturday, October 4-Tuesday, October 7, we meet Mia's father.... a man who is far more interested in policy, sports, and his own life than he is in being a father. Phillipe Renaldo, Mia's father, is representative of the man Josh Richter will becomes, and as such, foreshadows the way in which Mia and Josh's relationship is doomed to fail.
