Job Trotter is Jingle's servant. He deceives Sam Weller and Mr. Pickwick in Bury St. Edmunds by convincing them that Jingle is going to elope with a boarding school girl for her money. In Ipswich, he intends to marry a cook for her savings, but Sam Weller prevents this by revealing his plan to the cook. Job Trotter is then sent to Fleet Prison with Jingle, where the two men encounter Mr. Pickwick. After Mr. Pickwick and Sam forgive them, they reform. After Mr. Pickwick's release, he obtains a release for Job and Jingle, and secures them positions in the West Indies as well. Jingle and Job go onto become valuable members of society.
