who didn't fight in the rumble

Randy is the one that doesn't take part in the rumble. He does this because Bob's death really got to him. It made him think about how no matter how hard they fought nothing would really change their social status or the way people viewed them. He said: 

 "....it doesn't do any good, the fighting and the killing. It doesn't prove a thing. We'll forget it if you win, or if you don't. Greasers will still be greasers and Socs will still be Socs. Sometimes I think it's the ones in the middle that are really the lucky stiffs."
