The Other Side of the Dark is considered a mystery novel for a variety of different reasons. First, the main character has been in a coma for four years..... the last four years are a mystery to her, in that she's lost those four years.... completely. Second, her mother has been murdered, and Stacy is the only one who can identify her mother's murderer. How will she unlock those memories?

The mystery in this novel is found in Stacy's need to unlock the past and effectively live for the future. She must find a way to identify a face she cannot remember, all while the media has placed her in danger by stating that she can.
