Louis Dubuche is an architect and student at the École des Beaux-Arts. His enrollment in the Beaux-Arts is tolerated only because it is the only place available to study architecture. Unfortuntely, Dubuche gets caught up in ambition and formulates a relationship with the stone mason builder, Margaillan. He marries and looks to become a success first...... high society being the goal. Sadly, his is unsuccessful as an architect and is sent to the country by his father-in-law to take care of his family.
