During times of danger, animals will protect themselves by either fighting or fleeing. They also will have biological reactions that cause them to do so. Monty observes from an early age that horses are flight animals. That means that if you put any kind of pressure on them, they flee. Instead of resisting the horse's natural inclination, he develops a training method that works hand in hand with a horse's natural inclination.
