It is a poignant and sadly ironic moment when the mighty Tank, who could not be defeated by the worst beasts the jungle had to offer, was in the end taken down by a single, stray bullet from a senseless war. The bullet in itself is a kind of metaphor for the Franco-Vietnamese War in Nhuong's life, coming fast and violently without warning or reason, and changing his life forever.
