The Jungle is the story of Jurgis Rudkus and his family, Lithuanian immigrants who come to America to work in the meatpacking plants of Chicago. They face enormous difficulties including harsh and dangerous working conditions, corrupt companies, and corrupt law enforcement. There is suffering and hardship at every turn.
