Who is John Potts from The Journals of Lewis and Clark and what is their importance?

John Potts served in the Army in Tennessee before he joined the Corps in 1803. After the expedition, he became a trader for the Manuel Lisa company. Hewas killed by the Blackfeet Indians in the same ambush John Colter escaped.
