George Gibson was one of the 'fine' men from Kentucky that enlisted in late 1803. He was a skilled gunsmith and an experienced woodman. Like Cruzate, he entertained the party by playing the fiddle at night. Helped by his skills in sign language, he was part of the team that looked for the party sent out to recover deserter, La Liberté, in the Otto camp. Gibson died in St. Louis in 1809.
