The cook was born to a servant and later became a servant himself. As a young adult, his father introduced him to the judge, who then gave him a job as a cook. Not entirely happy with his new occupation, the cook's nose was a bit out of joint, knowing that he would be serving an Indian. After marrying and raising his own child, the cook made sure his son would have a future by sending him to America. In return, he believes and hopes that someday..... his son will return and save him from his life of servitude.
