Metaphor: "The woods became our saviour". This means that the woods provide food for Katniss and Gale's (her friend) family. It saved them from dying of starvation.

Metaphor: Katniss is the mockingjay- literally she isn't a bird, but she is the thing that survived despite the Capitols intentions, like a mockinjay.

Metaphor: Katniss is often called the girl on fire. In many respects, she is the spark that set the districts alight with the idea of rebellion and the courage to change.

Simile:  "i trip and fall into a small pit of orange bubbles that hum like the tracker jackernest"

Personification: "The world begins to bend in alarming ways"

Hyperbole: Clove threw the knife in the back of the District 9 boy quicker than lightning.

Onomatopoeia: clunk" page 302 and "whoop" page 302
