Myrtle is George Wilson's wife, and Tom Buchanan's mistress. Myrtle is described as being in her mid thirties, voluptuous, sexual, but in no way a beauty. Her voice was coarse and sometimes shrill. She is demanding, jealous, and might often be perceived as desperate.
