Who is a protagonist in The Grapes of Wrath?

Tom Joad is the protagonist and main character in the novel, The Grapes of Wrath. When we first meet Tom, he has just been released from prison. Over the course of the novel, he takes charge and not only fights for the well being of his family, but for the other migrant workers as well.
