Arundhati Roy has an interesting style to her work. Like the title of the book suggests, Roy puts emphasis on small details. All the characters have some kind of backstory. She tells the story in a non-linear fashion: like a stream of consciousness that can ebb and flow in time. Roy uses third -person omniscient to tell the story but utilizes certain words or phrases to define many of her characters.
